DrugRisk Alerts of Latest Court Update in NuvaRing Lawsuits
Miami, FL (PRWEB) August 23, 2013 -- The birth control safety center at DrugRisk.com is announcing updated news for women using the contraceptive NuvaRing. Court records show the number of women who have filed claims alleging blood clot injuries from the device have grown nearly 5% in just the past month*.
DrugRisk provides the latest information on safety alerts, recalls, studies and legal news to those patients using popular prescription drugs and medical devices. Visitors can find out if others are experiencing similar side effects and decide if they need legal advice.
The resource center has added warnings from health experts linking contraceptives like NuvaRing to higher risks of blood clots than traditional birth control pills. Last year, the New England Journal of Medicine published a study finding vaginal ring contraceptives could relate to a 2.5 to 3-fold increased risk of blood clots**.
Due to the number of patients who have filed a NuvaRing lawsuit alleging blood clots, many cases are now consolidated in a special federal court in Missouri. The formal case is known as In re: NuvaRing Products Liability Litigation, No. 08-md-1964, JPML, Eastern District Missouri.
Now, DrugRisk has learned that the latest report from the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict litigation shows the number of claims filed has increased from 1,296 on July 10 to 1,358 on August 15th, an increase of nearly 5%*. U.S. District Judge Rodney Sippel recently scheduled the first trial to start on January 27th***.
Anyone who suffered a blood clot, stroke, DVT or pulmonary embolism after using NuvaRing is urged to contact the DrugRisk Center or speak with a lawyer about their legal rights as soon as possible. DrugRisk only recommends lawyers and law firms who have already handled NuvaRing lawsuits.
