Dolores M. Miller, Poet and Author of the Beautiful Warrior writings, is a survivor of child abuse. Ms. Miller is sharing her experience with the legislators of Pennsylvania. The trauma of child abuse lasts a lifetime. The new laws enforce stiffer penalties for those who endanger a child in Pennsylvania.
Governor Tom Corbett signed ten bills in order to make significant improvements to the state's child abuse and child abuse prevention laws. The laws are based on recommendations made by the Pennsylvania Task Force on Child Protection. The bills allow for stiffer penalties for abusers; including those with grooming behavior. The new laws impose penalties for false reports of abuse, as well as, changing language from "serious bodily injury" to "bodily injury" and expanding the number of people who can be considered abusers; including those in schools with contact with students, such as teachers, social workers and administrators.
While working with the legislators in Pennsylvania, Dolores is the voice for those with no voice and continues to fight for justice where there has been none. While spreading the words of hope and healing, Ms. Miller provides information on the laws and the reasons why it is so important to strengthen the laws now.
