5 Alarm Music recently announced the launch of a new, fast and user-friendly catalog interface that makes searching and licensing music a breeze for customers who are in Canada.

Canada has its own identity and therefore we believe Canada should have its own search engine, so we can speak and work with that community directly

California’s independent music provider, 5 Alarm Music, now has a dedicated search engine for a Canadian customer base. The new search engine, Canada.5alarmmusic.com, is designed to catalog music that appeals to the specific interest of Canadian audiences, thus making it easier for them to search music through the library.

“Canada has its own identity and therefore we believe Canada should have its own search engine, so we can speak and work with that community directly,” said Cassie Lord, Vice President/General Manager/Executive Producer of 5 Alarm Music. “Additionally, we have different libraries in Canada than the USA so we don’t want to have any confusion.”

The new search engine makes it faster for customers to find music, whether for personal entertainment or for more professional purposes, such as licensing for commercial use. One of the largest independent music distributors in the nation, 5 Alarm Music maintains a collection of over 200,000 tracks from 80 music libraries worldwide. A growing Canadian music library and client base also prompted 5 Alarm Music to respond accordingly with this new interface.

The new Canadian search engine, Created by Soundminer, started working in the month of October 2013."Soundminer is a recognized leader in the field of audio asset management. We make both desktop and internet search engines recognized by the world over,” reads Soundminer’s online storefront. “We can also boast that every Oscar nominated motion picture last year had been touched by Soundminer and is the first choice of sound facilities like Skywalker Sound, Sony Pictures, Warner Brothers, Paramount Studios, Disney, and many others.”

Soundminer is now the recognized standard among the production music libraries in North America and many music libraries companies are adopting and using the Soundminer standards for metadata distribution.
