The Calais Campbell Celebrity Poker Invitational will be hosted by one of Arizona's most celebrated and philanthropic Cardinals’ players – Calais Campbell. Campbell is the founder of The CRC (Charles Richard Campbell) Foundation, which is named after his father. The foundation has been able to assist with educational scholarships, meals and implementation of an afterschool program that provides mentors and emphasizes life skill development for young people.
"This is an event supported by both Calais and our foundation," said Keyonne Calais, Executive Director of the Calais Campbell Foundation. "The CRC and the Care Fund are committed to families and children, so this fundraising opportunity is part of our important Valley tradition and mission."
Local and national celebrities are slated to play at each of the poker tables. Along with Calais Campbell, the confirmed lineup to date includes: Damian Anderson, Kwamie Lassiter, Marvin "Young MC" Young, Jay Taylor, Adam Bergen, LJ Shelton, and Dax Jones, with many others still pending.
Famous former "America's Got Talent" contestant Randall Hedden – known for his amazing "speed painting" abilities – will be on hand from Las Vegas to entertain guests. In just 10 minutes, Hedden paints famous celebrities like Howard Stern, Adrian Peterson and likenesses of Paul McCartney, Alice Cooper and many more. At the invitational, Hedden will create an image of a well-known celebrity to be auctioned off at the end of the tournament.
"ALL IN is proud to be a part of the Calais Campbell charity tournament. While we get the opportunity to be a part of, and cover events around the world, it is very special to be involved in something as worthwhile as this, in our own back yard,” said Baxter Baldwin, President of ALL IN. “Not only is the cause itself a tremendous endeavor, Calais and his Foundation are a strong annual force in the Arizona charitable landscape. We look forward to the event and welcome additional participation from sponsors and participants.”
The Care Fund is a collective effort between Homeowners Financial Group and the Apollo Foundation, which was founded in 2010 in the memory of Apollo Lamb. The Care Fund was launched in January 2013 to help families with a critically ill child pay their home mortgage or rent when medical expenses severely limit their ability to meet their monthly housing obligations. In the short period of its existence, the fund has pledges of $750,000, putting it ever closer to its goal of raising $1 million in 2013. For more information, please visit http://www.thecarefund.org
