International No-Pulling Week Raises Awareness of Trichotillomania
Beverly Hills, California (PRWEB) October 05, 2013 -- A staggering three percent of the worldwide population will suffer from Trichotillomania (TTM), yet most people have never even heard of it. TTM is a control impulse disorder that involves pulling out one’s own hair, whether it’s from the scalp or eyelashes. September 23-29 marks International No-Pulling Week to shed light on this very common, yet much hidden and extremely destructive disorder.
Hair loss specialist and leading expert Lucinda Ellery has teamed up with founder of charity Trichotillomania Learning Centre (TLC) Christina Pearson and launched International No-Pulling Week to raise awareness of this hair pulling condition. The majority of people with TTM pull as a coping mechanism for anxiety and other difficult emotions, often sub-consciously. What could start as a small habit can escalate dramatically resulting in a complete loss of hair.
“I have thousands upon thousands of TTM clients spanning across my UK and LA studios so the aim for International No-Pulling Week has always been to help raise awareness and offer solutions for sufferers,” says Ellery. “I want to stop women feeling alone. So many are affected by TTM, yet no one talks about it. By showing how common it is, we can reach women who are distressed and offer help.”
Lucinda, who for the past 30 years has been pioneering hair loss solutions, offers an array of Hair Management Techniques for thinning hair, patchy hair loss or total hair loss through varying Intralace Systems. Lucinda Ellery understands the trauma TTM causes to all of its sufferers therefore provides unrivalled support that sees all her clients maintain and develop a close and supportive relationship with Lucinda and her excellent team.
