Pamela Slim is the author of “Escape From Cubicle Nation: From Corporate Prisoner to Thriving Entrepreneur,” and her second book, “Body of Work.” Early in her professional life she saw that many people wanted to leave their jobs but were afraid to. Slim knew she never wanted to find herself in that position.

She left consulting with corporate America and started her blog eight years ago as a business-development tool and to help people break out of their cubicle, both literally and figuratively. Slim tells Wes Schaeffer, The Sales Whisperer®, how early Apple and Macintosh marketer Guy Kawasaki gave her an opportunity to post on his highly successful blog. Her followers went from 100 to 20,000 overnight. She shares why and how it happened.

Slim stresses the need for entrepreneurs to continually put out quality content, which is what got Kawasaki's attention. She tells Schaeffer, "Career paths are unstable. The one thing we can control is the body of work we create."
