Nagios World Conference 2013 Kicks Off – Nagios Announces New Products
Saint Paul, MN (PRWEB) October 01, 2013 -- This year's Nagios World Conference has just kicked off, marked by the annual keynote speech from Nagios Founder and President, Ethan Galstad. In addition to providing critical conference information, Galstad announced and summarized the tremendous advancements that have been made by Nagios Enterprises in the past year. Among these accomplishments is a plethora of improvements to Nagios XI, the latest release of Nagios Core, and the launch of a brand new product – Nagios Network Analyzer.
Network Analyzer is designed to extend Nagios' product offerings further into the IT management realm by providing organizations with extended insight into their IT infrastructure and allowing system administrators to maximize network security and prevent network compromises. Network Analyzer's commercial-grade network flow data analysis and reporting functions, combined with a powerful visualization engine, make it easy to view the overall health of a network in addition to providing down-to-the-packet granularity on network devices.
“We are extremely excited about the launch of Network Analyzer,” said lead developer Nicholas Scott, “Network Analyzer's ability to provide and analyze network flow data is a critical function that is necessary in every organization looking to run a safe, and secure network.”
In addition to the launch of Network Analyzer, major advancements to Nagios Core were announced with the release of Nagios Core 4.0. The majority of the improvements come in the form of huge performance increases in the monitoring engine, which allows for incredible hardware efficiency. Core 4.0 has been tested in real-world conditions and yields up to a 700% increase in speed over Core 3.X. Additional feature enhancements were made to Core's ability to manage core workers, configuration verification, and macro fields.
Nagios XI was an obvious talking point during the keynote this year. With continuous improvements being made to XI and new features for the next version on the horizon, Galstad made it clear that Nagios plans to remain the industry standard in IT infrastructure monitoring. Increased performance, cross-product integration, automated agent deployment, and automatic commissioning were among the features he discussed for inclusion in future product releases.
Galstad also shed some light on the future of Nagios Enterprises with project updates and future product plans. Projects highlighted during the keynote included Nagios Reactor, NCPA, and Npush. Nagios Reactor is a highly extendable automation management engine designed to minimize downtime, simplify network automation, and save organizations time. NCPA is a crossplatform agent designed to revolutionize agent-based monitoring by universalizing agent installation and troubleshooting, while encompassing both active and passive check capabilities. Npush was also discussed as a future feature for Nagios XI, allowing agents and other software to be installed, updated, and started. Galstad went on to discuss the success of Nagios Enterprises and its ability to compete with other organizations.
“As a company, we have achieved some incredible goals,” said Galstad, Founder and President of Nagios Enterprises, “Our accomplishments this year put us in a position to continue to be the industry standard in IT infrastructure monitoring, as well as the industry standard in IT management and beyond.
