New Dining Options a Big Hit with Lake Prince Woods Residents
(PRWEB) October 21, 2013 -- "Best salmon and shrimp ever." "Everything was top of the line." " Excellent desserts." "Let's have it again next week!" "Compliments to the Chef from everyone."
Comments like these from residents can be heard on a regular basis at Lake Prince Woods, but especially for Chef's Table. One night each month Chef Brian Stubbs and the dietary staff prepare a very special meal.
"So far our Chef's Night Specials have had a regional theme," Chef Brian noted. The first was Italian, with veal parmesan and chicken picatta on the menu. Next was French and then Greek. The May Special was an especially big hit: seafood. Coconut shrimp and salmon stuffed with spinach and feta cheese delighted diners.
Since the partnership between United Church Homes and Services (UCHS) and Sodexo last year, residents have seen innovations in dining. New food options in the deli include a variety of panini sandwiches and freshly made pizza. The catering menu has been expanded to include entire meal options in addition to the reception items previously available.
"A chef does more than prepare the food," Chef Brian explained. "Planning menus, ordering the food, and coordinating with the other cooks is part of the responsibility." He is ably assisted with cooking by Deborah Wiggins, Sheila Beamon, Laura Hamlin, Gladys Stephen, and Rosa Tillery.
