Botox Now FDA Approved to Treat Crow’s Feet
Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) October 16, 2013 -- On September 11, 2013, the FDA announced a new approval for Botox Cosmetic to improve the appearance of crow’s feet. The FDA originally approved Botox in 2002 to minimize the appearance of frown lines, also known as glabellar lines. CENTER for Advanced Facial Plastic Surgery skin care expert Jodi Slavica, RN, responds to the new approval.
"Botox Cosmetic, when injected by a highly trained professional, is a safe and effective way to minimize the appearance of wrinkles. Patients can now be assured of its safety and efficacy in improving the appearance of wrinkles around the eyes," explained Nurse Jodi Slavica.
Botox Cosmetic is a neuromodulator medication that is injected into specific muscles underneath facial wrinkles. The Botox relaxes the muscles and results in smoother, wrinkle-free skin. Botox is a temporary treatment that generally lasts up to 6 months.
"When a patient comes in for Botox, they can get the Botox injected into several treatment areas in one session. So, a patient who comes in for the minimization of crow’s feet, can also have Botox injected into the frown lines for a more youthful appearance," said Nurse Jodi.
At the CENTER for Advanced Facial Plastic Surgery, Jodi Slavica works alongside world-renowned facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon Babak Azizzadeh, MD, FACS.
