MOSI to Host Tampa's First-ever STEAM Professional Leadership Forum
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) October 01, 2013 -- MOSI will host Tampa’s first-ever STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) Professional Leadership Forum and luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 11:30 a.m. With a prestigious panel of scientists, artists and entrepreneurs, the forum will provide Bay area residents the chance to discuss the opportunities and challenges that the region faces in regard to becoming a leader in STEAM education.
“The future of our world lies in innovation, which cannot exist without STEAM education,” said Wit Ostrenko, president of the Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI) in Tampa. “MOSI has been educating the people of this region on STEAM and the importance of innovation for more than three decades.”
The panel will be moderated by Brent Britton, an engineer, attorney and University of Tampa professor. Featured panelists are Dr. Raúl Cuero, a microbiologist, inventor and MOSI’s 2013 National Hispanic Scientist of the Year, who developed the technology to eliminate toxic and radio-nuclide contaminants using Martian Simulant Soil; Dr. Kerriann Greenhalgh, an organic chemist and entrepreneur who developed a topical water-based hydrogel for applications in all aspects of woundcare; and Jeff Hazelton, a biologist, artist and entrepreneur engaged in the genesis of new products, technology platforms, and expanding their applications at Lucid Global.
The STEAM Professional Leadership Forum will take place at MOSI on Thursday, Oct. 10. Networking will begin at 11:30 a.m. Lunch and panel discussions will begin at noon.
