As Tall Fescue Season Begins, Super-Sod Partners to Purvey Pennington’s Smart Seed Pro Brand
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 02, 2013 -- Super-Sod stores in Atlanta, GA, and Raleigh, Charlotte, Greensboro, and Hendersonville NC have improved their fall Tall Fescue seeding specs with the addition of new Tall Fescue seed and new seeding equipment.
The new seed is Pennington’s Tall Fescue in the Smart Seed Pro brand. Pennington’s research and development efforts have engineered the best Tall Fescue seed available for the Southeast. Tall Fescue is successfully grown in the cooler regions from Atlanta-Charlotte-Raleigh and northward, thus Super-Sod selected it to stock in their outlets in those regions.
Smart Seed Pro Tall Fescue is the most technologically advanced Fescue seed available. It offers outstanding drought resistance and is designated a “Water Star” variety; meaning it requires up to 40% less water than ordinary Fescue seed. The new seed also contains “MYCO Advantage” and “Penkote® Seed Technology. MYCO Advantage is a mycorrhizae (a good fungus that strengthens roots) coating which fortifies the lawn by promoting dense, deep roots that access more nutrients and water. Penkote Seed Technology helps protect new Fescue seedlings from fungus and also stimulates faster lawn establishment.
Super-Sod is pleased with other aspects of Pennington’s Tall Fescue: superior dark green color, improved disease resistance, exceptional wear tolerance, and excellent turf quality and density.
This Blue Tag Certified seed was designed for the landscape professional, but at Super-Sod it’s available to the landscape contractor and homeowner alike.
The new equipment mentioned above is a compost spreader for spreading Super-Sod’s Soil3 compost over a lawn. Soil3 is an organic humus compost for top dressing after seeding Tall Fescue. It replaces wheat straw, greatly improves soil structure, and adds nutrients for turfgrass vigor.
Spreading a top dressing to protect seed and prevent moisture loss after seeding is a standard seeding practice, but with the use of the “barrel roll” or “drum roll” compost spreader, the guess work of “how deep have I spread the compost so far” is removed from the process. The compost spreader lays down a beautiful, even layer of compost throughout the lawn area. Once the spreader is filled with compost, all that needs to be done is to keep rolling the spreader across the lawn until it’s covered with nutrient-rich Soil3.
Super-Sod is getting good feedback form customers who are using Soil3 organic compost as a cover over their Tall Fescue seed. The compost spreader aids this process.
Pennington's Smart Seed Pro Fescue Seed and the compost spreaders are available at Super-Sod's Outlets in North Carolina and North Georgia. Super-Sod is a family-run sod farm that employs experts in turf and horticulture.
