Houston Oil Rig Lawyers Offer Legal Information After a Karnes County Pipe Explosion
HOUSTON, TEXAS (PRWEB) October 01, 2013 -- Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials and the Railroad Commission of Texas have sent investigators to the scene of a large pipe explosion that sent six contract workers to the hospital. Now, Houston workplace lawyers at VB Attorneys are urging other contractors for oil rigs to learn their rights about what to do and what is available following a tragic workplace accident like this one.
According to news reports from the San Antonio area, a steam pipe burst, slamming six workers with boiling hot water. Four of the injured rig workers had to be airlifted to a local burn unit at the San Antonio Military Medical Center. The other two workers were transported to local hospitals in the Falls City area.
“I am saddened to hear of the six injured workers in Karnes County,” said Texas accident attorney Vuk Vujasinovic, “but I am hopeful after hearing reports that all are expected to make a full recovery.” Vujasinovic went on to comment that, “It is critical that we protect the legal rights of the men and women that put their lives and health on the line every time they go to work on an oil rig, and work to find the cause of this accident so that it does not happen again.”
The Freeport McMoRan Oil and Gas division in Texas has not received any safety violations on any of their 21 rigs. Now, as the investigation unfolds, it will be eye opening to find out what went wrong, and how the accident happened so that no other oil rig employees fall victim to these or other serious injuries.
“We have designed our website to provide injured workers with valuable information on their rights, how to pursue compensation for their injuries, and what to expect throughout the process.” Vujasinovic said. “After a tragedy, such as this most recent oil rig accident, it is important that other oil rig workers and their families access this information and educate themselves on their rights before an accident ever happens. This way, they can be prepared should something go wrong on a job site.”
