Homeschooling Families Nationwide Look to the Stars with the Home Learning Association’s 2014 Space Camp Adventure
Englewood, CO (PRWEB) October 02, 2013 -- Homeschooling families are known especially for their ingenuity in education, embracing opportunities that are available locally and even abroad to create learning experiences like no other. The Home Learning Association, the United States’ newest national homeschooling organization, is enabling educational innovation at a whole new level: space exploration. Families will be able to experience the mysteries and wonders of the final frontier by participating in the organization’s 2014 Space Camp Adventure, a five-day takeover of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. There will be two programs for different age groups taking place simultaneously during the camp, from August 31-September 5, 2014. The Home Learning Association is now accepting registrations.
“Space Camp enables you to take your children’s education beyond the four walls of your at-home classroom and into a whole new realm of experiential learning,” said J. Allen Weston, Executive Director of the Home Learning Association. "Space holds a certain grandeur and mystery in the human mind and it’s equally exciting to investigate. The Space Camp Adventure will expose these homeschoolers to a whole new world of hands-on exploration.”
The Space Camp Adventure is open to the whole family. Among multiple other out-of-this-world activities, students and their families will participate in simulated shuttle missions, brave the rigors of astronaut training with use of an authentic 1/6th gravity chair and multiple other simulators (underwater training is an option as well), survey the night sky through the Camp's telescope, build and launch rockets and brave the Camp's interactive Area 51. The two homeschool Space Camp programs that are available through the Home Learning Association include special versions of the Space Academy, for parents and children ages 9-13, and Advanced Space Academy, for parents and children ages 14-18. Student participants in the Advanced Space Academy will receive one hour of college credit from the University of Alabama.
There are a limited number of spaces available so families are advised to register early. A $100 deposit is required per participant at registration with the remainder due by April 1, 2014. The Home Learning Association will provide multiple fundraising opportunities throughout the year that will go toward paying for this extraordinary opportunity.
