New Product: Summit Care Exchange
New to the Summit Interoperability Product Suite is Summit Care Exchange. This new product intends to address hospitals’ transition of care Meaningful Use stage 2 objective by facilitating CCD data exchange in a query-response [transport] model. Summit Care Exchange gives hospitals the ability to exchange PDQ and XDS messages in order to deliver continuity of care documents (CCD) to other entities. Additional functionality includes audit logging, alerting, and dashboard activities for the interfaces as well as the ability to leverage the inherent Summit APEX mapper.

“With the introduction of Summit Care Exchange for exchanging CCD, the Summit Interoperability Platform has expanded to ensure our clients have all the tools they need available in their Summit toolbox,” said Matt Johnson, Product Manager, Summit Healthcare. “Whether it’s certifying for Meaningful Use or integrating with an HIE, the Summit Interoperability Platform serves as the integration vehicle for success.”

Latest release: Summit Express Connect 9.2
The Summit Express Connect interface engine provides countless hospitals with an integration foundation to manage internal and external electronic communications. Summit Healthcare is proud to announce their latest version 9.2, which has been designed to support their clients’ needs not only currently, but also to help tackle any future needs. With back-end enhancements to support high-volume message traffic and support for XML message formats, this new version will allow clients to satisfy all the integration tasks they might be faced with.

Whether it’s simply doubling message volume out to other vendors, bringing on vital sign monitors or working with the XML version of HL7 3, the Summit Express Connect 9.2 interface engine has the tools hospitals need. Aside for the support of additional messaging and volumes, new feature highlights include additional security to protect ePHI with increased audit log functionality, dashboard monitoring improvements and upgrades to their inherent mapping tool SAM.

“With Summit Express Connect 9.2 we have continued to listen closely to our customer needs with the goal to deliver robust functionality while never losing focus on client ease of use. EC 9.2 provides the technology toolset for a more manageable and streamlined exchange of electronic health information,” said Paul Actis, VP Technology, Summit Healthcare.

Latest Release: Summit Provider Exchange 1.2
The Summit Provider Exchange technology was created specifically to handle the unique workflow and registration challenges that often present when trying to integrate physician EMR systems with the main HCIS. The latest release 1.2 will continue to streamline this often laborious integration process while also seeing new major features.

One feature of note is the new print order feature that is intended to help sites print out orders as part of their workflow. Although many hospitals strive to be as paper-free as possible, it is sometimes a necessity. This feature also offers value for billing/record keeping purposes.

Management of orders can be cumbersome for end users however the new click-to-match functionality will now allow sites to gain access to more information about orders and guide the end user to ensure they are processing the correct order on the correct patient and when. One goal of bi-directional physician office integration is to gain efficiencies and Summit Provider Exchange can support this.

“Summit Healthcare strives to elevate, listen and have our customers guide everything we do,” said Ted Rossi, President, Summit Healthcare. “At the beginning of every development cycle and product deployment, our customers have an active stake in the final product. We are proud to add Summit Care Exchange to our Interoperability technology family and support our customers as they work to adapt to the new demands of healthcare integration.”
