Squadron Sponsors Commemorative Air Force “AirPower History Tour” in McKinney, TX
McKinney, Texas (PRWEB) October 02, 2013 -- Squadron is proud to announce its sponsorship and partnership with the Commemorative Air Force, bringing the AirPower History Tour to McKinney, Texas on Thursday, October 3rd to Sunday, October 6th.
The Commemorative Air Force AirPower History Tour brings the World War II flying experience and the history of flight to fans of majestic flyers both young and old. Among the featured events at Collin County Regional Airport are cockpit tours of World War II airplanes, educational programs and flight shows. Food trucks will be on-site, providing a variety of treats as visitors treat themselves to the aerial show.
Flight is only the beginning of the entertainment at the AirPower History Tour, with a Big Band from the Community Swing Band headlines both Friday and Saturday night. Classic cars will be accompanying the planes at Saturday’s event. And, for the true lover for flight and planes, airplane rides in authentic World War II aircraft will be available.
Squadron partnered with the Commemorative Air Force to bring this event to McKinney, outside of Dallas, because it understands the love of flight and the importance of preserving and presenting history in both a visible and tangible way. As a leading retailer of model airplanes, Squadron has been providing detailed models to customers so that they can recreate their own favorite World War II aircraft at home.
Squadron will have not only their model airplane kits, but also ships, armor vehicles and ready-to-display models for sale at the event, along with tools and books. “Build One and Become Hooked” is their theme of their pop-up store – introducing young aircraft aficionados to the hobby of modeling, and to bring adults back to the hobby of modeling. “Many people build models as kids and ‘outgrow’ them as they get older. We want to show people that there’s models for them – detailed models for those who like a challenge and lots of tinkering, and simpler models for those looking to pick up a new hobby where they can actually create something, making a replica of something authentic or giving their own personal touch to it,” said Mike McMahon, owner of Squadron.
“We’re always excited to see these beautiful planes in action and are proud to help sponsor this event. While our model airplanes are great, nothing can compare to the excitement of seeing the real deal in action. Our models help to bring just a little bit of that excitement and the beauty of these machines home.”
