Elegant Solutions for Complex Problems

Plano, TX (PRWEB) October 01, 2013

Mark Woeppel, president and CEO of Pinnacle Strategies, wrote a new blog post discussing how to synchronize the right work, at the right time, regardless of distance. Woeppel points out “the foundation of teamwork is having a shared vision of the situation.” This is a main reason why managing distributed teams is so difficult. Woeppel continues by saying that “creating the shared vision and plans becomes even more difficult, so in most cases, its poorly done or not done at all. This leads to people working on the wrong things, the right things in the wrong order, or right things with the wrong information.”

These situations give rise to synchronization errors, which can fall into two categories:
-Time Phasing, which are delays in communications

  • Batch Communications, which occur when not all information is shared with everyone.

When managing distributed teams, the very nature dictates that time and distance between team members is unavoidable. Thus the solution needs to impact the way that the team communicates. Pinnacle Strategies has implemented several projects with distributed teams, and found that creating a visual project board and an electric visual project board greatly helps communication by focusing on the correct content of the meeting to move the project forward with everyone on the same page.
