Fifth Third Bank to Sponsor the Ohio Hispanic Workforce & Economic Development Summit on November 7th
Columbus, Ohio (PRWEB) October 02, 2013 -- Since 2000, Ohio's Hispanic/Latino population has grown by 63.4 percent accounting for 350,000, or 3.1 percent, of Ohio's total population. "Fifth Third Bank recognizes the importance of the Hispanic Community and the opportunity to jump start Ohio’s economy by furthering empowering Hispanic entrepreneurs," says Louise Gissendaner, Fifth Third Bank Vice President and Director of Outreach and Strategic Initiatives, "Fifth Third is proud to sponsor the CHL Ohio Hispanic Workforce and Economic Development Summit and contribute to building leadership and development programs to advance the state’s Hispanic business community."
Many Hispanic business owners are faced with the inability to consistently create and sustain relationships with Fortune 500 corporations; thus they are not at the forefront of supplier diversity programs. Revenue generating and job creation opportunities are not being seized fast enough. “As an increasing segment of the population, Hispanics in Ohio are in need of workforce and economic development to make an even greater contribution to Ohio’s economy,” says Rafi Rodriguez, CHL Ohio Chapter President. “We are focused on cultivating Hispanic talent and providing them with the necessary professional tools and network to reach new heights."
Though Hispanic-owned businesses are growing at twice the rate of the national average and generate $465 billion in annual revenue, the growing number of Hispanic entrepreneurs and small business owners require leadership and operational training. According to a 2012 survey conducted by McCombs School of Business, and the Kauffman Foundation, Hispanic entrepreneurs and business owners must learn how to become better leaders and, at the same time, better business operators in order to compete against non-Hispanic, mainstream businesses.
With this in mind, the goal of the one-day event is to offer entrepreneurs leadership training as well as connect them with government and private business development opportunities.
As a result of attending the Summit, participants will benefit from:
• A highly interactive four-hour workshop that will help Hispanic entrepreneurs and business owners to become better leaders and business operators
• Information, tips, tools and resources to engage their business and access state government and private sectors opportunities to profitably grow and compete
• Access to CHL's online Certification Program: HispanicLeadershipAcademy.com
• Networking with successful Hispanics from across the state of Ohio
