Identified announced today that Mohammad Sabah, former Manager of Data Science and Analytics at Facebook, is joining Identified to lead the data science and engineering team in its effort to create the most valuable, comprehensive source of professional data available to recruiters.
Sabah will direct and develop Identified’s patent-pending artificial intelligence technology, SYMAN, which takes masses of unstructured, disparate information from social media sources and creates clean, searchable professional profiles on a scale that has been impossible until now. Identified’s technology has been developed to recognize and process professional data contained in nearly any social media source, whereas current solutions are limited to their own user-generated data.
“The work Identified has done on applying artificial intelligence to professional data with SYMAN is unrivaled. It is a unique and well-positioned technology that has clear competitive value,” said Sabah. “To be building on my data science work at Facebook, Netflix and Yahoo and applying it to professional data to solve the recruiting problem is an incredible opportunity.”
At Facebook, Sabah managed the team responsible for the analytics and data strategy of key products like Timeline, Profile Completeness and Privacy. Previously, he was a Principal Data Scientist/Engineer at Netflix, Fox Audience Network (later, the Rubicon Project) and Yahoo, where he focused on large-scale machine learning algorithms for personalization, search, behavioral targeting, click prediction and keyword recommendation.
Sabah has a master’s degree in computer science from Virginia Tech and background in statistics and machine learning from Stanford University. Sabah has also been invited to speak at multiple big data conferences, including Hadoop Summit 2012 and the Big Data Innovation Summit, where he addressed the challenges and approaches to large-scale data mining and highlighted some of the best practices.
“Mohammad is a rare individual in that he has deep experience in the very new field of data science and has worked for some of Silicon Valley’s greatest companies,” said Adeyemi Ajao, co-founder and co-CEO of Identified. “We are thrilled that he is bringing his expertise to Identified and driving our SYMAN technology as we create an entirely new competitive model for this industry.”
Founded in 2010 and headquartered in San Francisco, Identified is a data and analytics company focused on professional information. Identified pioneered SYMAN, “Systematic Mass Normalization,” a patent-pending technology that extracts, standardizes, and organizes only professionally relevant data from the social Web in order to create new products and insights for companies and individuals. The company has raised $22.5 million from VantagePoint Capital Partners, Capricorn Investment Group, Bill Draper, Tim Draper, Innovation Endeavors and others.
