"How I Became an Elephant" Wins Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival
Jackson Hole, WY (PRWEB) October 03, 2013 -- "How I Became an Elephant", a documentary film produced by Rattle the Cage Productions, David Reuben, and Jorja Fox (Seafox Productions), won the 2013 award for Best Children's Program at the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Starring 14-year-old activist Juliette West and Lek Chailert, the "Elephant Lady," the two women meet with the common goal of saving elephants. Juliette's love of elephants and determination takes her across the Pacific Ocean to Thailand, where she meets Lek, an elephant welfare advocate who operates a sanctuary for elephants who have been abused. Together, they rescue Ratree, an Asian elephant who was permanently disabled in a forced breeding program in an industry that supports the degradation of elephants in preparation for human entertainment - in circuses, elephant trekking, elephant paintings, etc.
"How I Became an Elephant" is directed by Tim Gorski and Synthian Sharp, who are now turning their attention to the crisis in Africa, where ivory poachers are wiping out elephants for their tusks at alarming rates.
