DPCI is brought on by New York Cares, the largest volunteer organization in New York City, to implement Drupal as the new Web CMS for newyorkcares.org.

DPCI, an interactive technology agency that helps organizations create, publish, enrich and deliver content to Web, print, mobile, and tablet devices, today announced it teamed up with New York Cares, the largest volunteer organization in New York City, to implement a new and improved http://www.newyorkcares.org. Founded in 1987, New York Cares runs volunteer programs for 1,300 nonprofits, city agencies, and public schools to help meet the critical needs of people living in poverty.

The initiative was driven by New York Cares’ desire to provide a more engaging and dynamic resource for the online community of volunteers and better represent the many programs and projects the organization runs in New York City. Through a redesign, the organization hoped to modernize the look-and-feel of the Website, improve navigation, expand project search functionality, offer helpful resources for users, and add interactivity to what was previously a largely static site.

The organization considered adopting an open source Web content management system that would allow their staff to fully manage http://www.newyorkcares.org. DPCI recommended Drupal 7 as the underlying CMS to meet the non-profit organization’s needs.

DPCI provided Drupal consulting services to develop an attractive and intuitive Website to demonstrate why New York Cares is the leading volunteer organization in New York City and for volunteers to easily find and signup for the broad range of projects offered by the organization. Using a combination of contrib and customized modules, DPCI also integrated Drupal with Salesforce to support user authentication, volunteer registration, and access to sign up for hundreds of thousands of projects.

New York Cares launched a new version of http://www.newyorkcares.com powered by Drupal in September of 2013. Current and future volunteers can quickly access the information they seek through intuitive navigation, quick-access content blocks and sophisticated search. The Drupal CMS integration with Salesforce provides New York Cares staff with the tools needed to keep content up-to-date, allowing the organization to more effectively communicate about New York City projects, events, news, and donation opportunities.

"The majority of New York Cares business is done through its website, and DPCI helped us meet the needs of many different stakeholder groups while modernizing and enhancing our ability to manage user-facing marketing content," said Steve Streicher, Director, Marketing & Communications at New York Cares. "DPCI also provided swift response, training, and consultation on our rapidly changing requirements, allowing us to better mobilize volunteers to meet the most pressing needs of the community."
