The City Beautiful just got a little bit greener with the addition of its first all-electric rental car program. Enterprise Rent-A-Car announced the new fleet last week, and attorney Michael Steinger says it will benefit more than just the environment.

Enterprise's Drive Electric Orlando initiative will include 15 Nissan Leaf plug-in vehicles according to First Coast News(09.05.2013). There are 300 charging stations across the city, plus free AAA recharges if the battery runs dry.

Steinger, an Orlando accident attorney, says the option of the fully-electric vehicles will bolster Orlando's business community.

“This is one more way that Orlando stands out as a destination,” said Steinger, the founder of Steinger, Iscoe & Greene law firm. “Everyone's heard of electric cars but few people have driven one, and we're one of the only cities to offer it.”

Enterprise offers fully-electric vehicles in less than 20 cities nationwide, almost all of them on the west coast. The only other eastern city to offer such a fleet is Baltimore.

“I think we might have better weather than Baltimore,” Steinger said.

But Steinger says the commerce value of such a fleet shouldn't be overlooked outside of the tourist industry, either.

“Electrics cars are on the rise,” he said. “This gives more people a chance to try them out, which can lead to more sales for local dealerships. Local Orlandoans will be trying these cars.”
