Zimmerman Recently Received "Reckless" Speeding Ticket
LAKE MARY, FL (PRWEB) October 04, 2013 -- Notorious for killing unarmed Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman had a new brush with the law last week when he was pulled over for speeding.
Zimmerman was ticketed for going 60 mph in a 45 zone, according to the Orlando Sentinel(09.17.2013). Attorney Michael Steinger says that's fast enough to cause a fatal collision.
“This wouldn't grab headlines if it was anyone else speeding,” said Steinger, an Orlando car accident lawyer and the founder of Steinger, Iscoe & Greene. “But Zimmerman has positioned himself as a do-gooder, and that puts his actions under public scrutiny.”
Zimmerman formerly patrolled his neighborhood as an armed Neighborhood Watch volunteer, which led to the fatal scuffle with Martin. Since being acquitted of Martin's death Zimmerman has also appeared at a car accident scene to help rescue victims (ABC News, 07.22.2013).
But Steinger says that such speeding is at odds with a desire to save lives.
“60 in a 45 is reckless,” he said. “Our firm works with accident victims every week who have been injured by excessive speeders.”
The traffic stop was captured on police video, which showed that Zimmerman was polite but unable to find his registration. He was given a ticket for $256.
“It's hard to imagine that he would take such a risk, to himself and others, after everything he's been through,” Steinger said. “But maybe he was rushing to save someone.”
