Chief Marketer held its 23rd annual PRO Awards gala on October 1, 2013 in New York City. At the event, Nashville-based integrated advertising agency, redpepper, was honored with a Gold award for Best Promotion that uses a Holiday Theme in recognition of its Merry Mess-Making Giveaway for manufacturer of vacuums and cleaning products, Oreck.

Oreck, called on redpepper to help them grow their database and increase online engagement during the holiday shopping season. The campaign that launched in November 2012 was built on the premise that everyone experiences disorder in his or her home around the holidays.

Thus redpepper introduced four distinct and relatable holiday “Merry Mess-making” personalities—The Crafter, Baker, Wrapper and Cook—and brought them to life within a Facebook-centric promotion where they (and their real-life counterparts) could take pride in their carefully-created messes. redpepper then positioned Oreck’s top-of-the-line cleaning products as the hero for tackling any holiday mess. With daily chances to win Oreck products plus a grand prize boasting cash and three of Oreck’s top-selling products, the campaign garnered 165,978 plays. In less than a month, the holiday campaign grew Oreck’s fanbase by 140%.

The Oreck Merry Mess-Making Giveaway beat out brands Sony (silver) and Logitech (bronze) for the gold in its category. Other brands such as MillerCoors Foster’s, Pepsi Co., AT&T, Frito-Lay and American Express also received accolades for outstanding promotion marketing in 27 categories. The Chief Marketer PRO Awards are considered the benchmark for outstanding creativity in the marketing industry, and are judged by a jury of independent experts.
