Portland, Ore. (PRWEB) October 10, 2013
From the past we can often learn about the future. David Humphrey, president of Kirkman®, will present a historical review of autism and provide his insights on the future of autism at the Autism Canada conference Thursday, Oct. 24 in British Columbia. Kirkman® is a leading manufacturer of nutritional supplements for individuals with sensitivities.
In his presentation entitled, “Autism: The Past, Present and Moving Forward,” Humphrey will focus on the early history of autism, development and treatments of the disorder and where the future of autism is going from an analysis of these items. He will include the research and vision of his close collaborator, the late Dr. Bernard Rimland, who is often referred to as the father of autism. Attendees will be able to learn about autism through a historical review that explores the first time autism was recognized as a condition and how it became an epidemic.
Humphrey will utilize a ten-to-one format to countdown the top ten biggest milestones in autism over the past 25 years and then look to how these milestones are affecting the future of autism. He will also discuss the role of parent movements in the autism community.
The conference will be held Thursday, Oct. 24 - Friday Oct. 25 at the Mary Winspear Centre, 2243 Beacon Ave. in Sidney, BC. Humphrey’s speech will take place 3:45-5:15 p.m. on Oct. 24.
