San Diego Plumber Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month by Proudly Wearing Pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. From sports teams to websites, people and organizations around the nation “go pink” for October. The San Diego plumber is happy to join the cause and do his part to support the campaign. Shu Bee, the company that provides shoe covers for the Bill Howe Family of Companies’ field technicians notified them of the pink booties available for the month of October.
According to the website, NationalBreastCancer.org, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, it is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women and the second leading cause of death among women in America, and it is estimated that over 40,000 women will die from Breast cancer in the United States annually. It is also proven that, with early detection and treatment, victims are able to lead normal lives. This is why it is so important to raise awareness and spread the word about early detection.
No stranger to supporting life-saving research and fundraising, Bill and Tina Howe have long been supporting American Heart Association with annual donations and a three-month long drawing contest to help raise funds and awareness of heart disease, America’s number one cause of death as of 2010 according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. “Adding in this small, but tangible step towards awareness is the least we can do,” says Tina Howe, Vice President of The Bill Howe Family of Companies. “We are very proud of all of our techs for stepping up and wanting to help spread the word by wearing these special pink booties.”
Bill Howe’s plumbers wear “booties” or shoe coverings whenever they enter a customer’s home to protect their flooring and keep the homes clean. With over 170 service calls a day, five days a week, including approximately 100 weekend emergency calls, that equals to well over 3500 potential chances to help spread the word about Breast Cancer this October.
