Comcast’s current sales model is a direct-to-customer interaction. However, the opportunity to partner with Synnex offered Comcast an opportunity to expand their sales force exponentially across the United States. ServIT, Inc. was selected to be the model for this new approach. They were selected due to the quality of service ServIT provides along with ServIT’s current reach into Comcast territories.
The partnership between Comcast and Synnex gives ServIT the ability to be a more complete managed service provider. As a managed service provider, ServIT consults with businesses on appropriate Information Technology solutions that will fit their business. Along with hardware sales and consulting, ServIT managed services include 24x7 monitoring of equipment, backup solutions for organizations, and disaster recovery and high availability. Now that Comcast has partnered with Synnex, ServIT has the ability to include all of Comcast’s Business connectivity services into its sales portfolio. “I can't see anything but an upside to this,” Executive Vice President of ServIT Allen Brooks said. “It's exciting not just for the revenue opportunity but also because we now have a relationship with them.”
This new model is an approach that will be beneficial to all parties involved. Comcast and Synnex wanted to go-to-market with a proven partner that has exceptional customer service and a proven track record of success. With ServIT’s 400 percent growth in service sales in the past several years, ServIT can now approach customers with connectivity solutions backed by Comcast but communicated and managed by ServIT project managers on the customer’s behalf. This allows ServIT and other future VARs the ability to sell Comcast services without leaving customers to deal directly with the provider anymore.
Comcast is looking to the future for growth opportunities. Residential areas for voice, TV, and Internet have all been saturated and growth has slowed tremendously. The new market is going to be small business. It is estimated that the major cable companies will compete and grab 10-18% of this market by the year’s end. The new approach at reaching the SMB market is a unique way in which Comcast can expand its reach. ServIT’s partnership and reach into the small business market makes this a possible sales model that will change the way traditional connectivity is sold.
