Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is using its mobile conference app, built on the intuitive EventPilot platform, for the WE13 annual conference which begins today. Playing host to over 6,000 members from October 24-26, in Baltimore, Maryland, the Society of Women Engineers aims to make history using EventPilot 7’s new networking features. EventPilot’s networking features help SWE to facilitate interaction between its members and creates a novel mechanism for exchanging ideas. “We are excited to offer this new version of the meeting app which is much more feature rich than other products out there, and will help bring our attendees together,” said Peter Finn, Director of Learning and Development, Society of Women Engineers. “Following last year’s success of EventPilot and with the new commenting features, we are anticipating lots of positive feedback.”
Of the EventPilot 7 release, session commenting is one of the most significant features giving logged in attendees the opportunity to discuss specific topics in-context of a session simply using their mobile device. Unlike Twitter, the comments are linked directly to the session without the requirement to use hashtags and, with a 500 character limit, participants can add a more detailed contribution. The advanced mapping feature of the Eventpilot conference app is an essential component for WE13. With over 300 exhibitors at the career fair, animated maps effectively guide participants to their chosen location with ease ensuring that they connect with the exhibitors relevant to their particular engineering discipline. The mobile paperless event app synchronizes personal information across different operating systems. This allows attendees to alternate between their Android phone and iOS tablet and thereby saves valuable networking time.
The EventPilot® app is easily accessible through many of the popular platforms, including iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android, Tablets, and Kindle Fire.
The EventPilot mobile conference app features include:
Sharing and Networking
The Facebook and LinkedIn integration allows users to share sessions of note with their peers outside of the conference which widens the audience for speakers and event organizers. Quick access to Twitter makes networking simple.
The meeting app’s comprehensive search feature allows the user to quickly search through thousands of abstracts, sessions, and speakers. The tiered search and intelligent filters ensure that the attendee swiftly attains the required results.
With offline capability, since maps are included directly in the mobile app, attendees can find their way around without needing WiFi. The meeting app’s animated maps indicate the location of session rooms and exhibitors at the conference venue.
The free iPhone and iPad conference app is available in the App Store, and the free Android event app is available in the Android market. Search for event “WE13”. A web version for BlackBerry and other web-enabled devices is available.
