James Tuan Joins Solix BioSystems As Executive VP of Business Development
Fort Collins, Colorado (PRWEB) October 10, 2013 -- Joel Butler, CEO of Solix BioSystems, Inc. (“Solix”), an algal technology company based in Fort Collins, Colorado, announced the appointment of James Tuan as its new Executive Vice President of Business Development.
“As Solix transitions to expand focus from algal fuels to the application of our proprietary AGS growth systems to develop and commercialize high-value, specialty algal products for nutrition, personal care, and specialty chemicals markets, we are very excited to have James join our team to lead that effort” says Mr. Butler.
James brings more than 25 years of experience in the development and commercialization of specialty bioproducts. Most recently, James was the founder and Managing Director of Aurora Nutrition, a company specialized in market development for China-based manufacturers of nutritional ingredients. Prior to Aurora Nutrition, James served as the General Manager of Kelco Biospecialties and as the Director of Market Development and Innovations for CP Kelco, a global leader in hydrocolloids, leading CP Kelco ventures in nutrition, food, industrial, and personal care products. Before joining CP Kelco, James was the President of Zymetrics, Inc., a unit of Syngenta, where he led the development and commercialization of engineered industrial enzymes such as Quantum®* Phytase, the first molecularly-evolved enzyme specifically designed for animal nutrition. Prior to Zymetrics, James held the positions of Director of Commercial Development and General Manager of Animal Nutrition at Monsanto and its Agractus, Inc. unit. James led the development of transgenic plant derived biopharmaceutical and enzyme products within Monsanto and in its joint venture with Cultor/Danisco, and commercialized specialty nutrition products such as Hy-D®** 25-OH vitamin D and microalgal omega-3 products for animal and human nutrition.
In his new role at Solix, James will be responsible for the formulation and execution of Solix’s commercial development strategy, including building collaborations with technology and channel partners to expand Solix’s development portfolio and accelerate commercialization of Solix products.
