Platinum-Selling Pop Star Demi Lovato Announces Neon Light Tour; on Sale Saturday
South Windsor, CT (PRWEB) October 05, 2013 -- Actress and platinum-selling pop star Demi Lovato plans to light up the stage again with The Neon Lights Tour; tickets go on sale Oct. 5. The tour will support her latest album, “Demi,” taking notes from its most recent hit single “Neon Lights.”
Lovato announced the tour for early 2014 to her “Lovatics” fans on Facebook and Twitter on Sept. 29. The Neon Lights Tour kicks off in Vancouver, BC on Feb. 9, with 27 total shows across the United States and Canada. Female phenom musical acts Little Mix (stars of the U.K,’s X Factor), Fifth Harmony (placing third on the U.S.’s X Factor last year) and Cher Lloyd will be touring with Lovato.
The recent album, which was released May 10 of this year, is a departure from Lovato’s R&B roots, delving more into electronic pop and teen pop sensibilities. It is also a more playful departure from the reflective, mature subject matter of her previous album, Unbroken, which Entertainment Weekly said, “found her singing about self-cutting and abuse with a bravery that felt very adult.”
On Wednesday, Lovato made the TV debut of the third single, “Neon Lights” from her fourth album on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. She topped the appearance off with matching neon blue locks.
The newest track joins the album’s hit singles “Heart Attack” and the summer ballad “Made in the USA.” The first single “Heart Attack” debuted at No. 1 on the iTunes chart in more than 25 countries and No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming Lovato's second Top 10 hit on the Hot 100 chart. It achieved gold status in U.S. and Canada within four weeks of its release and platinum status within just 10 weeks.
A full-fledged tour for the “Demi” album was put on hold partially due to her second season commitment to The X Factor.
“When you have the opportunity to be in front of America every single week several times a week, that's a very incredible opportunity,” the former Disney Channel star told Billboard. Acting as judge on The X Factor helped her cross over into the mainstream world. “I was not only in front of my fans every week, but I was also in front of adults. I never used to get recognized by adults…It's really awesome to have expanded my fan base."
Lovato returned as a judge, and mentor to the female performers, on the third season of the reality show music competition The X Factor in September.
Last month, Lovato also announced that her book, Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year, will be released on Nov. 19. Struggling with drug addiction, weight disorders and bullying, Lovato shares personal reflections and insights (including some tweets), positive affirmations and inspirational quotes, encouraging readers to set goals for #StayingStrong. Fashion & Style reports that Demi’s words ”are powerful testament to a young woman standing up and fighting back.”
Lovato is also set to guest star in six episodes of “Glee” in a recurring role, beginning Thursday, Oct. 3.
"Demi" is one of Lovato’s most successful albums to date, debuting at No. 3 in the U.S, making it her fourth Top 10-debuting album.
