Commercial lighting company Access Fixtures have announced a new LED lighting package for outdoor basketball courts, adding to their growing range of sports lighting, reports Providence Journal. Using just 966 watts, the new lighting uses 75% less energy than equivalent HID lighting packages, and is rated for 85% lumen maintenance at 100,000 hours. The package provides crisp, white light that turns on to full brightness instantly. It also has instant switch off and dimming capabilities. It includes six poles and six LED lights with mounting hardware.
Steven Rothschild, Access Fixtures CEO, said: "As LED technology progresses and the prices fall, LED sports lighting is becoming the logical choice. Today outdoor basketball courts can be installed for not much more than an HID lit court and will reduce maintenance and electricity costs, making the premium for LEDs worth the price."
Visible Lighting, leading experts in LED lighting of all kinds, have responded to Access Fixtures’ new basketball court lighting package. A spokesperson for the company said:
“LED lighting is now being used for more and more purposes, as people begin to realise the significant benefits of LED technology. For outdoor sports lighting, in particular, the durability and energy efficiency of LED lighting is perfect, as it allows areas to be lit effectively at a fraction of the cost. For Access Fixtures, a range of LED lights for basketball courts is a smart move as it builds upon people’s growing awareness and applies the technology to reduce maintenance and energy costs.”
