MAC6 Debuts Arizona’s First Manufacturing Incubator During Arizona Manufacturers Month
Tempe, AZ (PRWEB) October 04, 2013 -- MAC6, in conjunction with Conscious Capitalism Arizona, the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) and Arizona State University (ASU), will host the grand opening of its new Park Lane Manufacturing facility in Tempe on Thursday, October 24.
As part of the Conscious Manufacturing in Action event program, MAC6 will debut the new 38,000-square-foot industrial manufacturing space – the Conscious Manufacturing Incubator. Additionally, the 12 unique manufacturing startup ventures that have been invited to launch in the new incubator will be introduced. Click here for event details and to RVSP.
“Manufacturing continues to be an essential pillar of Arizona’s statewide economy and will have a significant role in fueling new job creation and long-term growth,” said Sandra Watson, President and CEO, Arizona Commerce Authority. “Manufacturers have transformed into innovators by applying science and technology to their operations, and the Conscious Manufacturing Incubator is an outstanding example of the innovation occurring in our state that we are highlighting during Arizona Manufacturers Month.”
This grand opening event is among the local efforts that will be connected to Arizona Manufacturers Month, an initiative that highlights the state’s manufacturing ecosystem and its role in propelling Arizona’s economy into the next era of growth. The Conscious Manufacturing Incubator is a launch pad for early-stage, Arizona-based manufacturing startups that embrace the four tenets of Conscious Capitalism®: Higher Purpose, Stakeholder Orientation, Conscious Leadership and Conscious Culture. The incubator is a community partnership between MAC6, Arizona State University, and Rev AZ, the state’s manufacturing extension partnership program run by the ACA. Its mission is to foster manufacturing entrepreneurship to generate high-wage manufacturing job growth in Arizona and the greater Southwest.
“Our incubator is unique. There is nothing quite like it in this country,” said Scott McIntosh, co-founder of MAC6. “We offer early-stage startups access to manufacturing space that is sometimes difficult for established companies to access. Our co-op work space model fosters an environment and a culture of creativity, collaboration, community and change. We are very excited to welcome the Arizona community to our space and to debut the incredible companies in our inaugural cohort.”
The Conscious Manufacturing in Action grand opening event will not only provide public tours of Tempe’s newest manufacturing facility, but will also include opportunities to hear from leaders in the Arizona manufacturing industry and to learn about: Why conscious manufacturing makes good business sense; How entrepreneurship programs at ASU are supporting manufacturing in Arizona; and How the ACA’s Rev AZ manufacturing extension partnership program is offering small businesses manufacturing support and how to become a company incubated in the second cohort of the Conscious Manufacturing Incubator. There will also be local food trucks and live music. Donations of $20 will be accepted at the door for admittance with proceeds going to benefit Conscious Capitalism Arizona’s education programs.
