Tire Pros Opens Two New “Tread Town” Boundless Playgrounds for Children of All Abilities
Huntersville, NC (PRWEB) October 05, 2013 -- Tire Pros Francorp (Tire Pros), a wholly owned subsidiary of American Tire Distributors, Inc. (ATD), and local Tire Pros dealers recently opened two new “Tread Town” Boundless Playgrounds. Tire Pros and locally-owned Discount Tire Outlet Tire Pros held a grand opening event on September 19th at the new Tread Town playground at Reservoir Park in Massillon, Ohio, which is located just outside Canton. Only one week later, Tire Pros and locally-owned Tri-Cities Battery and Tire Pros held a grand opening event on September 24th to open a Tread Town playground at Memorial Park in Pasco, Washington. These two Tread Towns mark the sixth and seventh Boundless Playgrounds opened nationally by American Tire Distributors since 2009. The previous five are located in Lakewood, California; Jackson, Mississippi; Savannah, Georgia; Memphis, Tennessee; and Huntersville, North Carolina.
The “Tread Town” Boundless Playgrounds are special because they are built to allow children with and without disabilities to play together. Much of Tread Town’s foundation is constructed from recycled rubber including approximately 400 recycled tires per playground. This creates a universally accessible surface that allows children and caregivers with and without disabilities to navigate freely and safely. The playground promotes inclusive, unstructured play with ramped wheelchair access to the highest platforms. Tread Towns also feature an exclusive Tread Town tire swing, state-of-the art solid harness swings for children who need additional back support, and a multitude of other cutting-edge fitness and educational-based activities.
The two recent Tread Town grand openings were promoted by the local Tire Pros dealers, Massillon Parks & Rec Department and the City of Pasco. The events contained games, activities, music, food and giveaways provided by Discount Tire Outlet Tire Pros, Tri Cities Battery & Tire Pros and local community groups. Each grand opening event attracted over 300 people from the local community. At the Massillon event, short speeches were made to the crowd by Mayor Kathy Catazarro-Perry, Tom Davis of Discount Outlet Tire Pros and Ron Sinclair, Senior Vice President of Marketing for ATD. A ribbon cutting and community raffle immediately followed the speakers’ comments. At the Pasco opening, the attendees heard from Pasco Council Member Saul Martinez, Tri-Cities Battery and Tire Pros President Brandon Johnson and Ron Sinclair.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are nearly seven million children nationwide that have a disability. This prohibits them from enjoying the full experience of a traditional community playground.
“Tread Town playgrounds provide safe, positive places for all children to play, learn and thrive,” said Dan Brown, President of Tire Pros. “We are proud to open our sixth and seventh Tread Towns nationally and partner with our local Tire Pros dealers – Discount Tire Outlet Tire Pros and Tri-Cities Battery & Tire Pros – to make these important contributions back into the local communities in which we operate.”
