PointClickCare Delivers Industry’s First Electronic Health Record Platform to Embed INTERACT™ Quality Improvement Tools
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) October 07, 2013 -- PointClickCare, the market leading Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform for the long-term and post-acute care industries, today announced at the 2013 American Health Care Association National Convention & Expo the availability of embedded INTERACT™ (Interventions to Reduce Acute Care Transfers) Hospital Trend Tracker™ and Stop and Watch™ tools into its EHR platform. The launch makes it the industry’s only EHR platform to integrate the INTERACT tools directly within the clinical workflow of a software system and is the first deliverable of the eINTERACT project that began in late 2012.
eINTERACT is a joint initiative between PointClickCare and Florida Atlantic University (FAU), designed to bring the powerful quality improvement benefits of the INTERACT program to Electronic Health Records, resulting in a national standard to reduce unnecessary hospital readmissions amongst LTPAC providers.
The tools enable providers to capture additional data during admission and/or transfer and analyze the data to track key indicators such as Admission Log, Hospital Rates, Transfer Log, and Trend Tracking. With these powerful admission and readmission statistics at their fingertips, that can be used for root cause analysis and gap identification, providers may also use these measurements to strengthen ongoing partnerships with hospitals and provide definitive outcome data for participation in Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs).
The new embedded tools, originally released to PointClickCare pilot customers earlier in 2013, have already made an impact with LTPAC providers. Coral Odell, RN-BC, CLNC,C-NE, RAC-CT,CCN-C,CPRA, 2nd Floor Nurse Manager at Ebenezer Ridges Campus in Minnesota stated, "It gives us an opportunity to see trends and analyze which diagnosis are problematic, and where earlier detection may have prevented a transfer to hospital. It is a great management and educational tool that will help us provide optimum levels of care to our residents while strengthening our relationships with hospitals."
Paul Wray, RN, Clinical Specialist at Touchstone Communities in Texas adds, "I have found that Case Managers and operations personnel at hospitals like the convenience of the easy to digest trend reports and graphs."
Upon completion of the full eINTERACT specification, certification will be available to EHR platform vendors through an independent panel of industry stakeholders.
PointClickCare will be demonstrating the integrated Hospital Trend Tracker and Stop and Watch tools in Booth 1001 at the AHCA/NCAL national exhibition, October 7-8, 2013.
