Access MediQuip Wins National Honors: Awarded Bronze Award from URAC for Best Practices in Healthcare Consumer Engagement and Protection
Lake Mary, FL (PRWEB) October 08, 2013 -- Access MediQuip was awarded Bronze Honors for Health Care Consumer Engagement and Protection by URAC, a leading healthcare accreditation organization. The honor was announced during the 2013 Best Practices Awards Gala as part of URAC's Annual Quality Summit, held September 30 – October 2, 2013, in Washington, D.C. This award recognizes the achievements of organizations that are effectively advancing the role of consumers as active participants in healthcare through quality measurement and data analytics best practices.
Access MediQuip was honored for its Patient and Device Registry Program™, the first and only Level 3 Implant Registry in the country. The Registry implements the lifecycle process that connects healthcare constituents (patients, physicians, surgery centers, health plans, and manufacturers) to collect, measure, and use outcomes data to improve quality and patient safety.
"We are delighted and honored to receive this prestigious award from URAC," said Prakash Patel, MD, CEO of Access MediQuip. "It is recognition of our longstanding commitment and continuous efforts toward improving surgical outcomes, which we accomplish through delivering critical information on implantable devices and collaborating with payers and providers to coordinate optimal care for patients."
Entries were judged by a distinguished panel of independent judges including recognized experts in program evaluation, care coordination, health information technology, employer and purchaser decision-making, and patient safety. Entries were reviewed and scored by the judges based on objective criteria including whether the program was measurable, if it was reproducible, and whether it was delivered through a collaborative approach. Organizations were recognized in the categories of Care Coordination and Clinical Integration, Health Plans, and Quality Measurement and Data Analytics, with platinum awards given in the categories of Consumer Decision-Making and Consumer Health Improvement.
"URAC's Best Practices awards program is a unique celebration of innovative healthcare management programs. These organizations have implemented leading programs that have made a difference in the lives of the consumers they serve with demonstrable results that matter," said Kylanne Green, president and CEO of URAC. "This year's winners are recognized for their leadership in delivering on the promise of a quality healthcare system that puts consumers first."
