Kicking Coach Dave Brader of Husted Kicking held a successful National Camp Series (NCS) Divisional Kicking Camp in St. Louis, MO, for high school kickers, punters and snappers on October 5, 2013, according to NCS Founder Michael Husted.

Brader says even in the face of “challenging” weather conditions, the kickers showed real talent.

“Despite dodging showers and dealing with 15 MPH cross winds the athletes performed extremely well and made great adjustments to the conditions,” says Brader. “A lot of strong underclassmen really showcased their talent at this event. It’s pretty clear that Austin Massey and Blake Brockhaus have established themselves at two of the premier senior kickers in the St. Louis Metro Area.”

A future in professional football was never one of David Brader’s goals; professional baseball, however, was in his sight. It was at a regional workout for the Atlanta Braves in 1999 when David picked up a football someone was throwing and punted it; as luck so has it, a scout for the St. Louis Rams was there with his son, the rest as they say, is history.

David began fine tuning his skills and with the coaching of WGHS grad and former NFL coach Hank Kuhlmann c/o ‘54, Ray Pelfrey, Kelly Goodburn and Louie Aguiar, signed an NFL contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2005 before a career ending injury forced him to the sideline in 2006.

Since the injury, Brader’s focus has been on coaching the kicking game and kicking lessons and kicking camps. Brader has coached with former NFL kickers Louie Aguiar and Michael Husted at their annual Pro Camp since 2006.

Brader has also coached numerous area kickers and punters and athletes from University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, Kansas University, University of Iowa, St. Ambrose College, University of Missouri, Lindenwood University and Missouri State in his kicking lessons and kicking camps.

Kicking coach Michael Husted, who founded the National Camp Series after kicking in the NFL for 9 years, says he is pleased Brader is both an NCS Associate and directly affiliated with Husted Kicking.

“NCS Associates are some of the best kicking coaches in the country,” says Husted. “NCS coaches provide the highest quality instruction to high school kicking specialists around the country. And that is why I am happy to have Dave Brader as part of the Husted Kicking coaching team, as well as an NCS Associate.”

“Our kicking coach network continues to grow as we are adding top quality instructors this year in key geographical locations,” says Husted. “I firmly believe that we have the best system that provides student-athletes with excellent coaching and objective evaluations."

Husted says that by utilizing its Kicking IndeX (KIX) Player Rating System, NCS provides an objective evaluation platform for student-athletes who want to showcase their capabilities to colleges and universities for recruiting purposes.

He says that by sorting through over six years of historical event data, the KIX system determines a kicker’s rankings by cross-referencing player data to determine how the athletes stack up against others, both presently and historically.

"The NCS levels the playing field for those who don't want to get caught up in all of the 'politics' that occurs in the kicking industry,” says Husted. “If you can kick, punt or snap, the NCS KIX system will let a young kicking specialist’s skills speak for themselves. No excuses. No explanations."
