Hip Hop Artist and Actor, Common, to Mentor Thousands of College Students, October 15
Hoboken, N.J. (PRWEB) October 08, 2013 -- The National Society of Leadership and Success recently announced that Common, multi-Grammy award-winning hip hop artist and actor, will speak to thousands of its members about “The Greatness in You.” The presentation is part of The Society’s live Speaker Broadcast Series for the upcoming academic year, and will be seen by thousands of its members on location and via broadcast nationwide from Montclair State University on Tuesday, October 15 at 6:30 pm.
“I’m honored to be one of the speakers for this year’s Speaker Broadcast Series,” said Common about his Society presentation. “The National Society of Leadership and Success reaches so many future role models; it’s absolutely vital to impart our personal experiences and insights to such a driven group of individuals who will no doubt become tomorrow’s leaders. I’ll do my best to help those in the audience and those watching online around the country find their greatness and become the leaders we need them to be.”
Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr., better known by his stage name, Common (formerly Common Sense), is a multi-Grammy award-winning rapper and actor from Chicago, Illinois. For the past 16 years, he has produced over nine albums, including “Can I Borrow a Dollar?” “BE,” “The Dreamer/The Believer,” and “Finding Forever,” a Grammy-nominated collaboration with Kanye West. As a renowned actor, Common has portrayed freed slave, Elam Ferguson, in AMC's historical drama series, “Hell on Wheels.” He also appears in several movies, including “Smokin' Aces,” “American Gangstar,” “Wanted,” “Terminator Salvation,” “Date Night,” “Just Wright,” “Happy Feet Two,” and “New Year's Eve.” He also is the author of several books, including “One Day It'll All Make Sense.” In 2007, he launched the Common Ground Foundation, an organization dedicated to the empowerment and development of America's urban youth. This year will mark Common’s first time as a Society Speaker Broadcast Series presenter.
