Colorado State University-Global Campus Hosting Annual School-to-Work Consortium on October 11
Greenwood Village, Colorado (PRWEB) October 09, 2013 -- As part of its dedication to the professional success of its students and alumni, Colorado State University-Global Campus (CSUGlobal.edu) is pleased to announce it will host its second annual School-to-Work Consortium on October 11, 2013 at the Inverness Hotel and Conference Center in the Denver Tech Center. Career experts will present workshops and seminars on a wide variety of subjects within this year’s theme, Discover The Value of Your Personal Brand.
“The School-to-Work Consortium gives us the opportunity to help our students and alumni secure employment and advance their careers,” said Colorado State University-Global Campus President Becky Takeda-Tinker, Ph.D. “Our degree programs prepare students to be successful in their selected careers, but overcoming the specific challenges of getting a job, making a good first impression, and marketing their abilities is a separate skill set that needs to be practiced.”
This year’s event will include presentations on personal branding, reinvention, and job search techniques from a number of guest speakers. Karyl Innis, CEO and Founder of the career consulting organization The Innis Company, will be providing an interactive keynote address on how CSU-Global students and alumni can create their own personal brand to set themselves apart in the workplace. Popular features from last year’s event including speed interviewing with real hiring managers and 1-on-1 resume reviews will be offered again to provide participants with networking opportunities and helpful tips for managing their careers. Faculty from every CSU-Global degree program will also be attending to provide students with the chance to ask questions about their education and how they can use it to move toward their professional goals.
“Utilizing the success and feedback from last year’s event, we have developed this year’s Consortium to maximize the benefit for our students and alumni,” continued Dr. Takeda-Tinker. “The number of attendees has nearly doubled, proving that a highly productive day of career development experience is of great interest.”
