Sabrina R. Ferris, co-hiring shareholder of the Miami office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Honey Shine Mentoring Program. In this role, Ferris will work with fellow board members to help identify the needs and goals of the organization, implement best practices to support these goals, and champion the nonprofit throughout the community through awareness, education and fundraising initiatives.
Honey Shine, established in 2002 by Tracy Wilson Mourning, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and empowering girls between eight and 18 years of age by providing educational experiences and life-skills lessons related to health, nutrition and drug education, as well as career mapping and education.
“I am excited to join the board of directors of Honey Shine, an organization that makes a significant impact on the lives of many young girls in South Florida through mentoring, workshops and community programs,” Ferris said. “Our goal is to cultivate and empower these young women to become our future leaders.”
Ferris is a trial lawyer who focuses her practice on products liability and complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts. She litigates matters involving fiduciary relationships, products liability, contract disputes, shareholder disputes, securities transactions, employee non-competition agreements, fraud and insurance claims.
She is involved in a multitude of community initiatives including: Advisory Board Member, The Posse Foundation, Miami Chapter; Board Member, Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, Florida Region Board of Directors; Committee Member, Greenberg Traurig United Way.
Ferris received a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry from the University of Miami in 1993, and a law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law in 2000.
