Pinehurst Area Convention & Visitors Bureau Wins Two Marketing Awards
Southern Pines, NC (PRWEB) October 10, 2013 -- At the annual Destination Marketing Association of North Carolina ( DMANC) award banquet held October 3rd at Pine Needles resort, the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) garnered two awards in the top-tier CVB arena. First, a Platinum award for a Leisure Market Print ad called, “Golf. Sleep. Golf. Sleep.” The ad targets the core male golfer to come enjoy the area’s championship golf courses where he can basically get up every day and golf ‘til the sun sets and then get up to do it again and again.
The second-place gold award for a top-tier CVB went to the print ad used for U.S. Kids Golf in 2012, “Relax Your Grip.” The copy goes on to say that part of a good golf score is to relax your grip which corresponds to a relaxing getaway on or off a golf course.
DMANC was originally organized to form a network of local tourism promotion agencies working cooperatively to promote North Carolina, thus benefiting each member organization and the whole state.
Since inception, DMANC has partnered with the North Carolina Division of Tourism, Film and Sports Development to create programs and sales missions that have built North Carolina’s destination brand and have secured its position as the sixth-most visited state. DMANC also managed the state’s convention marketing initiative from 1997 to 2002.
DMANC created the North Carolina Golf Marketing Alliance in 1989 and gave the alliance a mission of promoting North Carolina golf to overseas markets. Though the primary marketing target was international initially, a domestic plan soon followed.
In 1991, DMANC and other industry partners established the North Carolina Travel & Tourism Coalition, an advocacy group that monitors and protects fair and equitable occupancy tax legislation. DMANC continues to promote the benefits of positive public policy and serves as a resource for legislators and industry stakeholders.
In 2009, DMANC and the North Carolina Travel Industry Association established the North Carolina Tourism Leadership Conference, an annual event that features internationally renowned speakers and a broad range of educational seminars.
And in 2011, the association created a committee and resource group for young professionals, through which networking and creative learning experiences are shared.
DMANC has a rich history of building partnerships and alliances that transcend special interests, and the association continues to create positive change for the collective good of our members and the state of North Carolina.
