"Leading Edge" With Jimmy Johnson Delves Into Medical File Sharing
(PRWEB) October 09, 2013 -- The "Leading Edge" series, featuring host Jimmy Johnson, will be delving into the topic of medical file sharing by announcing their collaboration with multiple organizations specializing in Medical Data safety and transmission.
In 1996, HIPAA was passed. This is also known as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. It allows patients to read their own records and even amend them. All patients have to do is ask for them.
Jimmy Johnson, who was once an NFL football player and coach, will host segments featuring conversations with doctors and others in the medical community about the topic of medical file sharing and why it's so important to share files with patients.
As some doctors have expressed, they want patients to read their files. Patients are able to ask their doctor for copies of all aspects of their medical records including copies of lab reports. Additionally, when a patient visits the hospital, they will be able to ask for copies of everything produced there as well.
The Leading Edge series is a programming that is launched for public television and covers a wide range of topics. Past topics have covered health care, the environment, culinary issues, education and much more. An array of professionals are being featured to help people understand the topic at hand in greater detail.
As a result, the program serves as a public service announcement to help the general public learn about topics that affect them. It is important for everyone to know about medical file sharing as it can affect one's health, the medical prescriptions they are given, and even the cost of their health care.
"Leading Edge" is distributed across the U.S. to Public Television. It is not distributed by PBS. To find out more about the series, visit http://www.leadingedgeseries.com. Producers can also be emailed at info(at)leadingedgeseries(dot)com for additional information.
