Author Amy Kite Offers Her Personal Approach to Families Going Through Divorce with Her Recently Published Book "DIVORCE: WHAT ABOUT ME?"
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 09, 2013 -- Author Amy Kite has taken her own divorce to heart and to the press to offer comfort for kids during the time of divorce. In her book, "DIVORCE: What about ME?", a children’s book on divorce, the essential message is reminding kids that even with the big change of divorce, mom and dad’s love for the child will remain the same.
“Divorce: What About Me?” is a colorful, rhyming tale that comforts and reassures kids during this difficult time, geared to children ages 2 to 9 years old.
Drawing on her own experiences with her three children during her divorce, Kite reiterates throughout the book that mom and dad will always love you, even though they are apart. Being involved in the challenge of watching her children’s fear and sadness, Kite wants to help other families going through similar times. Years later, she says, “I wish that there was a comforting book like mine out there when my kids were hurting so much. It is that very fact that compelled me to write this book and put myself out there to help others in the struggle.”
Kite says she felt strongly about writing this book for children: “I am eager to get this comforting tale in the hands and hearts of little kids who are feeling anxious or confused during this difficult time in their lives.” Kite also said she has been speaking to many small groups and would be willing to schedule a reading and discussion with any organization that hopes to provide comfort to parents and children during divorce, especially important around the upcoming holiday season.
Judy Kaplan, illustrator and publisher of Kite’s book, is also passionate about the subject of divorce. With two grown, married children and three grandchildren, she is passionate about the topic of divorce and its effects on the family since her own painful divorce when her children were young. She became a psychotherapist as a result of her divorce, to be able to help others in similar situations. She says, “My practice in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago is largely focused on helping people navigate through the difficulties of divorce -- this book was a perfect fit for me.”
“Divorce: What About Me?” is a colorful, coil-bound, glossy book with expressive and memorable characters that speak the words that most kids are thinking. It is the kind of book that parents can read to their children over and over again as it provides reassurance to the whole family.
The book, which retails for $15.95, was published in Chicago by Renaissance Communications, and has been a top seller in the category of children’s books on divorce on Amazon.
