Professional Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy Has Raised Over $50K for Local Charities
Uniondale, NY (PRWEB) October 11, 2013 -- Professional Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy (“Professional”) has been recognized for its ongoing philanthropic work. In 2013, the company has already raised in excess of $50K for many charities.
Adam Elberg, Founder, and Chief Executive Officer of Professional commented, “Our culture is one of giving back. It’s something I believe in, and act on, both personally as well as professionally. My employees and I recognize how fortunate we are, and take every opportunity to show others that we care. It’s a natural extension of the way we care for our patients.”
This year, Professional created its own “Apprentice” reality competition titled “Professional Apprentice,” and grouped all 400+ employees into 15 teams, representing 15 local charities. Each team selected a local charity, and created a fundraiser event. The team that showed the most enthusiasm and well-run event not only won a trophy, but Professional matched the amount raised, doubling the donation to the selected charity. All monies collected by each of the teams were presented to their individual charities. The charity for this year’s winning team was Jack’s Pac. Jac’s Pack is a non-profit corporation established to raise funds and awareness for Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS), a rare form of cancer that generally affects children and young adults.
The fundraiser events were run by employees of Professional, and a Project Manager and Advisor were assigned to each team. The Jack Pac’s Project Manager, Bridget Rodin, a Certified Athletic Trainer at Professional’s Garden City office, selected this charity because she “personally considers the Garden City office a family, and it was only fitting that we raised money for a local family-oriented charity.” The Team’s Advisor, Liz Whittingham (Professional’s Director of Compliance & Internal Audit), stated “I was very proud to be part of this event for the Jac’s Pack charity. This was a fun-filled afternoon for the entire family. All that attended had a great time. I was very impressed to see how hard the Garden City employees of Professional worked as a team to put this together. They did an amazing job hosting this event but more importantly, raising money for Jac’s Pack.” The founders of Jack’s Pac, Natalie Lessing, her husband Chris Lessing, and Mrs. Mohr, were also present at the event.
Some of the additional charities in which monies were raised, included St. Joseph’s Children’s Foundation, North Shore Animal League, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Wounded Warrior, Stony Brook Children’s Hospital, Stewardship Foundation and Food Bank for NYC.
In addition to the “Professional Apprentice” project, Professional has been recognized as the top-fundraiser for four years in a row for Miracle Jeans Day, in support of Children’s Miracle Network hospitals. Also, in 2013, through their efforts, employees of Professional were able to raise enough money for charity: water to provide clean water to a community of 299 people in a developing nation, where it is needed most.
