Foot Levelers has announced it will fund a $400,000 clinical study to be conducted by the National University of Health Sciences. The study will analyze the impact shoe orthotics have on low back pain and is titled “Shoe Orthotics for the Treatment of Chronic Low Back Pain: A Randomized Control Trial.”
“Foot Levelers is very fortunate to have the opportunity to fund the National University of Health Sciences study,” noted Foot Levelers Vice President of Education Dr. Mark Zeigler. “Being conducted by a quality research department ensures this study will be administered in a highly professional and skilled manner.”
National University of Health Sciences will fit 225 participants with Foot Levelers Moderate Luxury and Tight Fitting Dress Stabilizing Orthotics. Foot Levelers will also provide NUHS with a 3D BodyView® imaging system, which will allow NUHS to properly fit each participant with the Stabilizing Orthotics.
Participants will be broken into three groups: orthotics treatment, chiropractic plus orthotic treatment, and a wait-list control group. The study will measure change in the perceived pain each participant indicates after six and twelve weeks of care and then three, six, and twelve months after care.
Throughout its history, Foot Levelers has had a deep commitment to research, having given over $1 million to fund studies and clinical trials. “One of our top priorities has always been initiating and supporting research in a way that is meaningful for doctors and the patients they serve,” Dr. Zeigler continued.
