Goodbye Sweet Sixteen - New Concepts Publishing is Proud to Announce Another Anniversary
Lake Park, Georgia (PRWEB) October 12, 2013 -- New Concepts Publishing says Goodbye Sweet Sixteen.
NCP celebrates another anniversary. Seventeen years ago, in October of 1996, New Concepts Publishing launched its website/bookstore, becoming the first publisher of its kind in the world—the first epublisher in continuous operation since its inception in 1995.
A pioneer in a sea of uncertainty, NCP was so far ahead of the new wave of electronic publishing it started that the company spent as much time or more (in their early years) trying to educate the public as to just what an e-book (or electronic book) was as they did advertising their great reads by great authors at great prices.
“It was tough on everyone,” says Madris DePasture, Owner and developer of both the concept and the company. “Along with the typical hardships authors have to endure—long hours at their computers writing and refining their stories and more days, hours, weeks, and months promoting—our authors had to deal with the jeers and prejudice of their peers, who seemed to think that epublished authors had it easy. They believed epublished authors didn’t have to ‘pay their dues’ like authors published by the big traditional publishing houses. When, in fact, they had a far tougher time. The authors who pioneered this industry, had an uphill battle finding acceptance for the format as well as appreciation for their talent and they doggedly fought that battle every day until they achieved acceptance.”
Seventeen years later, ebooks are so widely accepted they’ve hit the ‘big time,’ the New York Times bestsellers list. But it was a long, long hard road for the pioneers in this industry and those who’ve hung in there have the scars to prove it.
And so it is with a great deal of pride in accomplishment that we say, “Happy Birthday New Concepts Publishing! From the bottom of our hearts, we at NCP wish to thank all of the authors who labored so hard and so loyally for the company for so many years and all of the customers whose loyalty and support have made NCP the oldest publisher of its kind in the world! Seventeen years strong and still going!”
