New Yorkers Against Gun Violence Education Fund to Honor Governor Cuomo, Sandy Hook Families
New York, NY (PRWEB) October 14, 2013 -- The New Yorkers Against Gun Violence (NYAGV) Education Fund today announced that Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, the Families of Sandy Hook Promise, and founders of NYAGV will be honored at its Annual Benefit on October 21 in New York City. The benefit supports the organization's youth and community education programs to reduce gun violence.
"Each of these honorees has worked tirelessly to reduce gun violence--Governor Cuomo for his efforts in passing the New York SAFE Act; the Sandy Hook families for diligently laboring to educate the public about gun violence; and NYAGV founders for their 20 years of fighting for stronger gun safety laws," said Leah Gunn Barrett, Executive Director.
The honorees are:
• Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, recipient of the Allard K. Lowenstein Award for Public Service;
• The Families of Sandy Hook Promise, recipients of the Detective Steven McDonald Law Enforcement Award; and
• Ellen Freudenheim, Barbara Hohlt and Katina Johnstone, founders of New Yorkers Against Gun Violence.
The New Yorkers Against Gun Violence Education Fund Annual Benefit and Silent Auction will be held on Monday, October 21 from 6:30-9:00 pm at The Rosenthal Pavilion at the Kimmel Center at New York University at 60 Washington Square South in New York City.
