WPL Publishing, L2 Federal Resources to Co-Host Webinar on Certified Payroll and Prevailing Wage Reports in Construction
(PRWEB) October 11, 2013 -- Washington, DC (Vocus) October 11, 2013 – WPL Publishing and L2 Federal Resources later this month will co-sponsor a webinar to help professionals within the construction community understand and comply with certified payroll requirements for their government-funded projects.
When contractors make the move from residential/commercial construction projects to government-funded construction projects, which have certified payroll reporting requirements, it can overwhelm them, their office staffs, and the accounting professionals supporting them. These often-complex requirements can lead to major problems, including denial of payment, non-approval of payment requisitions, and contract termination. The webinar focuses on federal WH-347 reporting requirements (which then can be translated to state-specific prevailing wage mandates), helping attendees understand the “ins and outs” of what they need to do in this area. To register for the 90-minute event, scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. (EDT), visit http://tinyurl.com/m88ww8a.
This webinar, entitled “Certified Payroll/Prevailing Wage Reports: A Practical Guide to Compliance,” will help attendees do the following, among other things:
- Understand how to comply with labor standards and payroll reporting requirements
- Identify “electronic or online” certified payroll filing requirements
- Know how to complete a federal WH-347 certified payroll report and statement of compliance, and apply this knowledge to state-specific requirements
- Evaluate methods for tracking employee time and work classifications
- Request additional “trade/work classifications” and wage rates
- Identify typical errors that require correction
- Learn common methods for creating certified payroll reports, statements of compliance, and other documentation
- Automate these time-consuming, error-prone tasks
Addressing webinar attendees will be certified payroll expert Nancy Smyth, who has been working with commercial/government construction contractors for more than 20 years, primarily focusing on contractors who use QuickBooks Financial Software and who must adhere to ever-changing prevailing wage laws. As president of Sunburst Software Solutions Inc., she is a key player in the development of several QuickBooks add-ons for the construction industry. In addition, she writes the “QuickBooks for Contractors” blog.
Following Ms. Smyth’s presentation, there will be an interactive 10-to-15 minute question-and-answer session addressing relevant topics.
Webinar tuition is based on location, not number of participants, so each registration site can have multiple participants for one low price. To register, visit http://tinyurl.com/m88ww8a.
