Adam Bennett Completes Tough Mudder Challenge for Scotty’s Little Soldiers
(PRWEB UK) 11 October 2013 -- Adam Bennett, a specialist Armed Forces Solicitor from law firm Mercury Legal, completed the gruelling Tough Mudder challenge last Saturday, raising £635.00 for armed forces charity Scotty’s Little Soldiers.
Tough Mudder, a worldwide event that has recently started up several events throughout the UK, is a 12-mile obstacle course designed by the Special Forces to test participants’ all round strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie. The North-West event, held at Cholmondeley Castle Gardens, Cheshire, saw participants wade their way through mud swamps, ice baths and obstacles laden with electric shocks!
Adam’s surpassed his initial target of £500 and the money raised is going to charity Scotty’s Little Soldiers, which was set up in August 2010 by army widow Nikki Scott. The charity is committed to supporting the children of the fallen, providing them with treats, trips and activities that will offer respite from the daily ups and downs of coping without a loved one.
Adam said of the event: “It was a great challenge and I’m so pleased to have completed it. It got quite tough towards the end, especially when having to contemplate the penultimate obstacle – the ‘Everest’ half-pipe. However, the crowds kept us going – everyone is so supportive of each other and does everything they can to help.
“I’m delighted to have raised a great amount of money for Scotty’s and am so pleased to have beaten my initial £500 target. They are a wonderful charity – more donations are still on their way!"
Debbie Dack from Scotty’s Little Soldiers said: “Scotty's Little Soldiers is a charity dedicated to supporting the children of men and woman killed whilst serving in the British Armed forces.
“We support the children by sending them birthday and Christmas presents and gift vouchers at particularly tough times of the year and tickets for days out as well as enabling them to use the Scotty lodges when they need a break.
“Knowing that there are people like Adam who are willing to help the children our fallen heroes leave behind, means such a great deal to all of us and goes towards helping make Scotty's Little Soldiers a huge success.”
