Windermere Real Estate Awards First College of the Desert Scholarships
Palm Springs, CA (PRWEB) October 14, 2013 -- In the spring of 2013, Windermere Real Estate Southern California identified the need to support local students in higher education programs at the community college level and working in partnership with the College of the Desert Foundation, announced their first scholarship program.
Windermere Real Estate Southern California is pleased to announce and recognize the first recipients of the scholarships in Business and Economics. The two $2,500 scholarships in these areas will assist in paying for a portion of the students’ tuition and expenses, allowing them to focus on what’s important – their education.
Justin Ceeko of Palm Springs was awarded Windermere’s scholarship in Business. Justin moved to the Coachella Valley from Texas and began attending the College of the Desert in the fall of 2012. Justin holds his real estate license in Texas and recently attained his California real estate license. He plans on completing his Associates degree at the College of the Desert and transferring to the Palm Desert extension of California State University, San Bernardino to complete his Bachelor’s degree in Business.
“I moved to the Coachella Valley because I wanted a change in my environment and the desert’s beautiful setting makes living here ideal,” shared Justin. “I also enjoy the small town feel that the Valley’s cities share which makes you feel like a part of a larger community. Windermere’s generous scholarship reflects that sense of community; to know that local businesses are integrated and connected with their local education system.”
Alan Siebuhr of La Quinta was awarded Windermere’s scholarship in Economics. A Coachella Valley native, Alan attended La Quinta High School before entering College of the Desert in the fall of 2012. Alan plans on completing his Associates of Arts degree before transferring to a University of California campus. Alan is interested in politics as a possible career path but wants to approach it from a principled and informed economic perspective.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity. Windermere’s scholarship will allow me to focus on my current class load. The example Windermere sets in providing opportunity and support for individuals and organizations around the Coachella Valley makes me want to give back to the community as well,” said Alan. “I imagine after completing my degree that I’ll find myself back in the area, maybe learning the political ropes by working for a local congressional office or representative.”
“We wish Justin and Alan tremendous success in their future studies and careers,” said Bob Deville, Co-Owner of Windermere Real Estate Southern California. “We had a pool of strong candidates to consider but believe that these two gentlemen reflect a balance of business savvy coupled with a sense of community involvement that reflects our core values at Windermere. Justin and Alan are both fine examples of the quality of students attending College of the Desert, as well as the immediate impact that the College of the Desert has on the development of the future leaders of our local economy and communities.”
