When friends fight, their enemies win.

This Aesop fable relates how a leopard was watching three bulls, wanting to seize them for his food. His chances would be better when the bulls separated, but they enjoyed being together so much that wherever one was, the others were sure to be as well. Knowing he must capture them one by one, if at all, the leopard began to spread rumors among the bulls until he had created so much jealousy and distrust among them that they moved away from each other. When the leopard saw that they had separated from one another, he attacked each one, and so made an easy conquest of them all. Dr. Kruger reminds us, “When friends fight, their enemies win.”
Dr. Kruger believes that socialists use mainstream media to sow dissension and thereby capture power from the people. She says, "President Obama altered the Affordable Healthcare Act to benefit big business, labor unions, and politicians and to harm small business, workers, and taxpayers. As a result, small businesses are cutting health insurance coverage, workers are earning less, and taxpayers are paying more for their healthcare. Many people are discovering that health insurance is no longer affordable."
In addition to applying to politics, Aesop's fables apply to the marketing of a small business. These delightful tales inspire entrepreneurs to focus their marketing strategies on key customers. For example, the fable about a lioness and a vixen conveys that “quality, not quantity counts.” Dr. Kruger coaches entrepreneurs to focus on these key customers and target similar prospects. Since key prospects usually want the same products and services, she believes they will easily become highly profitable new customers. Dr. Kruger states, "A business increases its profits when more profitable customers replace less profitable customers."
Scientists confirm that the top 20% of customers will generate 80% of the profits. The 80/20 rule predicts that key customers will be 16 times more profitable than other customers. Dr. Kruger advocates using the 80/20 rule to maximize the results of marketing strategies. She recommends describing, delighting, and duplicating the top 20% of the customers. For example, offer products and services that delight key customers, promote with empathy for them; and reward key customers, not complainers.
The 80/20 rule is the foundation of Dr. Kruger's upcoming book, “Aesop’s Rules: Timeless Marketing Strategies for Entrepreneurs.” All twelve of Aesop’s Rules are posted on her website, BetsyKruger.com. "Aesop's Rules" inspire entrepreneurs to create a profitable marketing plan for their business.
Dr. Kruger guides entrepreneurs to grow their profits with the 80/20 rule. She is a professional speaker, business coach, and published author. Business Expert Press published “Top Market Strategy: Applying the 80/20 Rule” in 2011. Marketing professors around the world are adopting her book for their marketing classes. Barry Silverstein praises her college supplement as a “profit-generating tool.”
