Today at EDUCAUSE, the Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) at George Mason University announces the launch of its latest project, EDvantage, the free online curriculum hub for educators. Designed for college professors and high school teachers, the online portal curates educational videos, articles and other resources instructors can use to supplement classroom instruction.
“Educators are continually searching for new digital content that engages students and enhances instruction, but navigating the Web to find those useful tools can be exhausting,” said Scott Barton, director of online education for IHS. “By using EDvantage, instructors spend less time searching and more time creating lessons that spark student interest."
EDvantage searches the realm of online content, collecting high-quality and creative resources that educators can incorporate into instruction. Educators also have the option to contribute their own content to the site, helping to grow the resource and build a community of connected users.
“We built EDvantage with the goal of providing instructors with innovative, vetted materials from credible sources,” said Josh Owens, curriculum resource manager for IHS. “With access to a wide variety of content, educators can select the materials that complement their teaching methods and students’ learning styles.”
Resources available through EDvantage today focus on economics and philosophy. Subject areas currently in development include history, political science, law, business ethics and more.
